On the road again

We drove to Nebraska and it was a ten hour drive. Marcy sat in the back seat with Jack and she helped us so much with taking care of Jack. She would sing to him and feed him. She is such a loving aunt. Jack did really well, he actually slept most of the way there and back.

Nicole's Wedding

We went to Nebraska for my cousin Nicole's Wedding. We had such a great time seeing everyone. The wedding was beautiful and the soloist was fabulous (I'm kidding). Jack got to meet his great grandparents, who both just turned 90. He got to meet great aunts and uncles and lots of cousins. Of my 15 cousins only three have children, so I have the feeling at the next big family reunion Jack will have lots of younger cousins to play with.

Happy Thanksgiving

For Thanksgiving this year were went to a buffet so no one would have to cook or clean. We had planned to leave for Nebraska right after dinner so we didn't want to have it at our house. We went to an Italian restaurant called Capriccio's in Flower Mound. Jack enjoyed getting to meet Miranda and Dee (Bobbie's brother).

Jack visits Daddy's work

I took Jack up to his Daddy's work for the Thanksgiving potluck. All of his co-workers were so sweet to Jack and I got to eat alot of good homecooked Thanksgiving goodies. Dan's boss Sandy and I joked about putting Jack to work here in a few years.

Sunday with the family

We brought Jack to Bobbie and Dan's church in Colleyville. We surprised them and Bobbie was so glad to see him she started crying. Pastor Ricky saw us in the audience (in the back row, Daddy stands out in a crowd) and had us stand up to introduce us to the church. Pastor Ricky Texada has been a pastor over Dan since he was a boy. Then we went to the house for Sunday dinner. We had Bobbie's roast and watched the Cowboys. Daniel got a jersey for Jack to wear to watch the games. It is a jersey for a 12 month old!

"My daddy is crazy"

The Stricklin Family went to McKinney Trade days this weekend. We had a great time looking at all the shops, we didn't find any good knick nacks for the house, but we did eat ALOT of fried foods. On the way out Daniel decided to buy a friend for Charlie. We got a chicken. We brought it home and Charlie's killer instinct came out. We expected Charlie to be curious and maybe scared of it, but he tore into it and got ahold of quite a few feathers. He probably would have killed it if we didn't stop him. Daniel talked about bringing it to the chicken coop nearby, but the chicken is still in our back yard.

Jack loves his Grandparents

Dan, Bobbie and Grace came for a visit to see Jack. It took them almost 3 hours to get to Savannah because I-35 was shut down. Daniel keeps trying to convince his parents to pack up and move here to Savannah.

Grandma Collins made a Moses Basket for Jack and he is a little too big for it now. He has already grown out of a good amount of his clothes. I am a little sad because they are so cute. I told Dan that we just have to have another boy to get good use out of all this cute stuff. He is already ready for baby #2. I definetly need some more time.

Happy Veteran's Day

This weekend was the Marine Corp birthday on Saturday and Veteran's day so I surprised Daniel and Jack by taking them to a civil war reenactment at Heritage Village downtown. As you can see Jack was not too interested, he slept the entire time. The gunshots were pretty loud and we were surprised it did not wake him. It was really cool, we spoke to one of the guys afterwards and they all travel around the country together doing this for fun. The field was not too full of soldiers as Texas is not really known for it's civil war battles. Although we did find out that there were a few small battles in East Texas. We had a picnic and then walked around the village looking in the houses and all of the artifacts. If you have not been to Heritage Village I definitely recommend going there, it is really interesting.
